Force Multiplier Volunteer Opportunities in Communications

The Communications Committee is looking for volunteers who share a passion for our mission and love to work with a highly effective and smart group of people to achieve our goals. If this sounds intriguing to you – please see if any of the roles listed below are a good fit for your skills and level of commitment.

We are not your ordinary volunteer group. Volunteering for Force Multiplier means having a lot of say in what we do – and a lot of responsibility to make it happen. The Communications Committee is a warm, spirited and collaborative team that is looking for new ways to message FM’s mission and promote our on-line events.

Open Roles in Communications

Earned Media Consultant/Help

We are looking for someone with PR and or publication experience that can help us develop a strategy and get noticed. It is difficult to find opportunities for free press being a partisan group but we have a great story that could be pitched to senior and activist publications. Connections, experience and writing skills are a must. 3-5 hours a week, Including a once a week, hour long Communications Committee meeting on Zoom.

Videographer

We are looking for someone who can tell our story on video. Imovie or another editing platform.

We want to be able to produce videos for our website and social media usage that explain our work and generate enthusiasm. Also format Zoom videos of our events to hang on the website. You will work with others to define the project’s scope and then you will have lots of opportunity to work on your own. Obviously your hours will fluctuate, depending on when you are working on a project, but will include attending a once a week, hour long Communications Committee meeting on Zoom.

Marketing Writer

You must have strong writing skills, a creative voice, be interested in and informed about politics and current events and be willing to work with a collaborative team and within a language and tone that is FM. It would be great if you came with a background in marketing and could be additive to the discussions of how to promote FM, as soon as you were up to speed.

Obviously your hours will fluctuate, depending on when you are working on a project.

Please attend a once a week, hour long Communications Committee meeting on Zoom.

Requirements/Experience:

To volunteer for Force Multiplier,  you must understand us and what we do. Therefore, to be considered for any role with Force Multiplier, you must have attended (or better yet, hosted) a Force Multiplier House Party or Information Session and at least one Force Multiplier fundraising event for either candidates or VE groups. It would help to have been on our mailing list for at least 6 months.

In addition, we work in a highly collaborative way in remote teams. To enjoy volunteering with Force Multiplier, you should be:

  • Both open-minded and opinionated, so that you are an active participant in conversations about decisions.

  • Both decisive and fully support decisions once they are made.  The landscape in which we work is constantly changing so we need to make lots of decisions in real time and stick to them.

  • Both kind and caring. We all make mistakes, and we all have a lot going on in our lives. We care about each other as people and are open about personal commitments so we can help each other keep them.
